The impact of plastic and sustainable choices
In this Geography video, pupils are introduced to the environmental impact of plastic and encouraged to make thoughtful, responsible choices when using materials. The video explains how plastic is made, why it is useful and how its long-lasting nature presents challenges for the planet.
Pupils follow the journey of plastic from production to disposal, exploring single-use items, pollution, and the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. Real-world examples illustrate the effects of plastic on wildlife, oceans and future generations, sparking discussion and reflection.
The video also sets the scene for sustainable design projects, supporting pupils to consider material choices and the environmental impact of their creations. It links learning across DT, science and PSHE.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Sustainability collection, equipping pupils to design for a better future.
