Learning about plastic and its uses
This Geography scheme of work video introduces pupils to the environmental impact of plastic and encourages thoughtful, responsible choices when using materials. It explains how plastic is made, what makes it useful, and why its long-lasting nature presents serious challenges for the planet.
Pupils follow the story of plastic from production to disposal, learning about single-use items, pollution, and the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. The video uses real-world examples to highlight how plastic affects wildlife, oceans and future generations — sparking discussion and reflection.
The video sets the scene for sustainable design projects by encouraging pupils to think critically about the materials they choose and the impact their products can have. It supports learning across DT, science and PSHE, with strong cross-curricular links.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Sustainability Collection resources, equipping pupils with the knowledge and awareness they need to design for a better future.
