Parts of a flowering plant

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work . It is designed for pupils and explores the key structures of flowering plants and the important jobs each part performs. While flowering plants may look different, they share many common features, including roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, all working together to help the plant grow and reproduce.

Pupils learn how roots anchor and absorb nutrients, how stems support and transport water, how leaves make food through photosynthesis, and how flowers attract pollinators to produce seeds. The video also explains how fruits protect seeds and support dispersal, allowing new plants to grow elsewhere. Each structure plays a vital role in the plant’s survival and life cycle.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Science, Lower key stage 2, Year 3, Plants: Plant reproduction, Lesson 2: Structure and function
