Who lives where?
This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work . It is designed for pupils and takes them on an engaging virtual tour of the world’s major habitats, exploring how animals and plants adapt to survive in their unique environments. From the icy polar regions to the sun-scorched deserts, colourful coral reefs, steamy rainforests, high-altitude mountains, and grassy savannahs, the video highlights key features of each landscape, including climate, flora, and fauna.
Pupils are encouraged to look closely and spot animals or plants that don’t belong in each habitat, developing observation and critical thinking skills. The video introduces key adaptations such as the polar bear’s blubber, the camel’s hump, or the monkey’s gripping tail. With a playful, quiz-style narrative, it reinforces understanding of how living things are suited to their habitats, while also challenging misconceptions and encouraging curiosity about the natural world.
The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Science, Lower key stage 2, Year 4, Living things: Classification and changing habitats, Lesson 4: Habitats and seasonal change
