Explain that the children will be thinking about opposites by comparing two circuits. Display the Presentation: Opposites and ask why the first circuit will not wobble but the second will. Allow time for paired discussion.

Could use the Activity: Designing a wobble bot: support version, which includes prompts to help pupils define the design brief; could design a Kapow Doodler or the cleaning bot modelled by the teacher, as these are familiar examples; could create only one initial design rather than two thumbnail sketches.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should justify their component choices with clear annotations on their final design; should explain why they selected one idea over another; could propose an original use for the wobble bot that is different from those already suggested.
