Understanding the online world

This RSE & PSHE video supports teachers in delivering Kapow Primary’s Key Stage 1 The online world units, helping children understand how to use digital devices safely and responsibly in a safe, age-appropriate and respectful way.

The video outlines how pupils begin exploring the online world by recognising when they are online, such as when using tablets, smartphones or playing games. It highlights that many devices connect to the internet, even when this is not always obvious, and introduces children to the idea that online and offline interactions can be similar.

Teachers are guided in introducing key concepts such as online relationships, responsible use and reporting concerns. The video reinforces that pupils should behave the same way online as they would in person and helps children understand the importance of balancing screen time with other activities, as well as recognising that not everything online is suitable for their age.

This video is one of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE teacher videos, which support teachers in developing confidence and subject knowledge when delivering the curriculum.
