Resources

You will need:

  • A tin can
  • A small cardboard box of a suitable size
  • Paper
  • Card
  • Masking tape
  • Paint (brown, beige or grey)
  • Glue (we have used a hot glue gun , but you could use a cold glue gun, or PVA. If you use PVA it will need to be left to dry overnight).
DrumCastle2
  1. Carefully remove the label from the can and draw around the label on a plain piece of paper.
DrumCastle3

2. Cut the shape out. It should be the same size as the label.

DrumCastle4

3. Using masking tape, seal the box up.

DrumCastle6

4. Glue the box to the side of the can.

DrumCastle5

5. Allow time to dry (if you are using PVA glue, this will need to be overnight).

DrumCastle7

6. On a piece of strong card, measure and draw out the castle turrets.

Use the can label to measure the length and depth of the turret.

Then measure 2.5cm intervals for the castle turrets.

DrumCastle8

7. Cut the turret shape out with scissors or a craft knife.

DrumCastle9

8. Glue the turret onto the tin can.

DrumCastle10

9. Repeat this process to make turrets for the box shape too.

You can use the box itself to measure how big the turret needs to be.

Glue the extra turrets in place.

DrumCastle11

10. Stick the white paper label to the can.

You will need to trim it to size.

DrumCastle12

11. Paint a base colour to the castle using acrylic paints if possible. We have used grey paint, but any stone colour will work.

DrumCastle13

12. Add further details, such as bricks, entrances and windows.
