Recap and recall

Recap the definition of melody (a pattern of different pitches: the tune). Show the Presentation: Melody match. Ask the children to listen carefully to the audio. Read each statement and ask the children to show a thumbs up if they think it is correct or a thumbs down if they think it is incorrect.

  • Could hum the melody in time instead of singing the lyrics to reduce language demands and build confidence.
  • Could stand in the centre of their group to match pitch and timing by listening to surrounding voices.
