Why we remember

In this History video, the children learn why Remembrance Day is marked each year and who we take time to remember.

The video explains that Remembrance Day is a moment to think about the brave men and women who protected others during past wars, including the First and Second World Wars. The children discover why people wear poppies as a symbol of thanks and reflection and how the national silence helps everyone show respect to those who risked or gave their lives to keep others safe.

This video is part of the Kapow Primary Remembrance collection. It supports the children in connecting the meaning of Remembrance Day to wider themes of courage, sacrifice and gratitude, encouraging thoughtful reflection on why remembering those who served remains important today.
