Teaching children to think critically online

This RSE & PSHE video supports staff in helping pupils develop the skills to question and evaluate information they encounter online. It explores how misleading content can appear in different forms and explains why it is important for children to understand that not everything they see online is accurate, up-to-date or trustworthy.

The video introduces different types of misleading information, including fake, exaggerated and outdated content, and explains how online information can be shared by people or generated using AI. Teachers are guided to help pupils think critically about what they see online, consider why content has been created and recognise that something can look convincing while still being misleading. The video also highlights common misconceptions, provides reassurance for children who may feel uncertain and encourages the use of trusted adults when support is needed.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS2 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
