Why being active keeps us healthy and happy

This RSE & PSHE video helps the children explore what it means to keep active and how moving their bodies can make them feel. Through simple examples, the children learn that being active includes many different types of movement, such as walking, jumping, running, climbing, dancing, swimming, riding a bike or scooter, playing team sports and taking part in gentle activities like stretching or yoga.

The video explains why keeping active is important. The children learn that movement helps their muscles and bones grow strong, supports a healthy heart and can help them feel more energetic. It also shows how being active can support their thinking and learning and help them feel happier. The children are encouraged to be active every day and to think about ways they can enjoy moving their bodies throughout the week.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS1 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
