Looking after our health and wellbeing
This RSE & PSHE video introduces the children to the ‘My healthy self key’ area, helping them understand how it supports their wellbeing, physical health and healthy choices. It explains that learning in PSHE helps the children take care of their bodies and minds and make positive decisions in everyday life.
The children explore how their learning develops across the key stages. In Key stage 1, the children focus on understanding emotions, feelings and basic physical health needs such as sleep, movement and hygiene. In Lower key stage 2, the children learn how thoughts, feelings and behaviours are linked and explore strategies such as staying active, getting enough sleep and developing a positive mindset. In Upper key stage 2, the children build a deeper understanding of mental health, self-care and self-regulation, while learning how to recognise when someone may need support and how to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
