Recognising and pronouncing the letter ‘o’ in Spanish

In this Spanish phonics video, pupils are introduced to the ‘o’ sound, supporting their recognition and pronunciation of this vowel in spoken Spanish. The video demonstrates that the letter ‘o’ is always pronounced in the same way and encourages pupils to join in with clear examples and guided repetition.

Pupils explore how the ‘o’ sound appears in everyday Spanish words and are prompted to practise using mouth mechanics to ensure accurate articulation. The video emphasises the importance of shaping the lips into a small circle, like blowing out a candle, to produce the correct sound. Through repeated practice pupils develop confidence and build familiarity with common vocabulary.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Spanish videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and develop their language skills.
