Recognising and pronouncing the ‘ñ’ sound in Spanish

In this Spanish phonics video, pupils are introduced to the nasal ‘ñ’ sound, focusing on accurate articulation and recognising where and how it appears in Spanish vocabulary.

Pupils are guided through mouth mechanics to ensure clear and consistent pronunciation. They practise making the ‘ñ’ sound by touching the tip of the tongue to the ridge behind the upper teeth and letting air flow through the nose. Visual cues and spoken examples help pupils connect sound with spelling and meaning. The video includes opportunities for sound-spotting and repetition, supporting listening skills, pronunciation and awareness that even familiar sounds require attention when learning a new language.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Spanish videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and develop their language skills.
