How it works

The mixed-age units follow a Cycle A and Cycle B format, supporting progression of skills across the age range.

  • Following the units in the suggested order supports a coherent progression of skills and knowledge across the mixed-age Spanish scheme of work.
  • Pupils can begin the Year 5/6 cycle even if they have only completed one year of the Year 3/4 cycle.
  • The first unit in each cycle is designed to revisit key concepts such as cognates, word order, numbers and opinions, supporting all pupils, particularly those who are new to language learning or have not completed the Year 3/4 cycle.
