How is the equipment list organised?
The list includes specialised DT supplies (e.g. wire cutters, fabric glue, wooden dowels) and everyday classroom resources (e.g. card, scissors, glue). Links to lesson plans and unit pages on Kapow Primary’s website are provided throughout.
The Design and technology equipment list is organised by year group and then further broken down into the following core areas, repeated within each year group:
- Cooking and nutrition, e.g. chopping boards, bowls, peelers, scales, baking trays, wooden spoons, graters, paper plates, blenders and cutlery.
- Mechanisms, e.g. glue guns, wooden dowels, lolly sticks, straws, pegs, saws, scissors, hand drills and card.
- Structures, e.g. scissors, glue, sticky tack, straws, tape, card, glue guns, craft materials, sandpaper, pipe cleaners and junk modelling materials.
- Textiles, e.g. fabric, thread, pins, needles, buttons, beads, scissors, fabric glue and decorative items.
- Electrical systems, e.g. circuit components, split pins, foil, batteries, wire cutters, pliers and sticky tack.
- Digital world, e.g. devices with internet access, USB cables, timers, building blocks, card, glue sticks, scissors.
