Creating a safe space for questions and curiosity
This RSE & PSHE video introduces the wonder box as a simple and effective way to encourage children to ask questions, share thoughts and raise concerns in a safe and confidential way. It explains how a dedicated space for questions can support children who may feel reluctant to speak in front of others and gives teachers valuable insight into the topics children are thinking about.
The video provides practical guidance on creating and using a wonder box, including where to place it, how to make it accessible and ways to incorporate it into everyday classroom routines. Teachers are encouraged to use the wonder box across different curriculum areas, respond thoughtfully to questions and create a culture where curiosity is valued. The video also includes safeguarding guidance, explaining how to manage disclosures appropriately and helping children understand when they should include their name so adults can offer support if needed.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
