Teaching trust, safety and healthy relationships

This RSE & PSHE video supports teaching about trust and helping children build healthy, respectful relationships. It explains that trust is an important part of feeling safe and connected to others and explores how children can develop an understanding of trust through everyday behaviours such as honesty, reliability, kindness and respect for boundaries.

The video provides practical guidance for helping children recognise who they can trust and how they can be trustworthy themselves. Teachers are encouraged to explore concepts such as keeping promises, telling the truth and respecting personal boundaries, while recognising that some children may find trust more challenging because of past experiences or additional needs. The video also highlights the importance of helping children understand that trust can sometimes be damaged but can often be rebuilt over time. Throughout, it reinforces key safeguarding messages, including encouraging children to speak to a trusted adult if something feels wrong and helping them understand that uncomfortable secrets should never be kept.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
