Teaching children how to keep their bodies safe

This RSE & PSHE teacher video supports the delivery of RSE & PSHE, Year 2 Staying safe: Lesson 2: How can I keep my body safe? It explores how to teach personal boundaries, body ownership and the importance of speaking up when something does not feel right. The video provides guidance on using age-appropriate language and creating a safe, supportive environment in which children feel confident discussing this sensitive topic.

The video explains how to teach the correct scientific names for body parts, identify private body parts and discuss safe and unsafe touch. It introduces the NSPCC PANTS rules and provides strategies for helping children recognise body warning signs, understand the difference between surprises and secrets, identify trusted adults and practise simple ways to ask for help. Throughout, the emphasis is on building children’s confidence, promoting body safety and encouraging them to seek support when they need it.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE videos, which support teachers in delivering sensitive topics effectively while developing pupils’ personal, social and emotional understanding, as well as their knowledge of relationships and health education.
