LKS2 Growing up
This RSE & PSHE video aimed at parents and carers, explains the Lower Key Two Growing Up unit, which covers physical changes during puberty such as voice changes, faster growth, new hair growth, and skin changes, while reassuring children these changes are normal but vary in timing for everyone. Children learn correct anatomical terms to support confidence and personal safety, and understand that periods are a normal part of growing up. The curriculum includes lessons on distinguishing between safe, unsafe, and unwanted touch, and encourages communication with trusted adults. The content emphasises that lessons are taught respectfully using fictional examples and scenarios to create emotional distance, allowing children to learn without embarrassment or pressure to share personal experiences. This video provides guidance for parents on supporting learning at home and references additional resources like the Parent zone for further information about RSE and PSHE education.
