Sophie's 999 call
This animated RSE & PSHE video follows Sophie as she calls 999 after finding her grandad on the floor and unable to respond. Pupils hear how Sophie asks for an ambulance, gives the address and describes what has happened. When she does not know the phone number she is calling from, the ambulance call handler reassures her and continues asking the questions needed to organise help.
As the call continues, Sophie checks whether her grandad is awake and breathing, explains that she is alone and shares that she feels scared. The call handler supports her, reminds her that help is on the way and stays on the line until the ambulance crew arrives. The scenario models how a child can listen carefully, answer as clearly as possible and remain on the call during a frightening emergency.
