How we grow and learn new skills

This RSE & PSHE video helps the children reflect on how they have grown and changed since they were babies and toddlers. Through a series of examples, the children explore how people develop new skills as they grow, from drinking milk, crawling and making sounds as babies to walking, talking and playing more independently as toddlers.

The video then encourages the children to think about the skills they can do now, such as preparing simple food, swimming, riding a bike or tying shoelaces. By comparing different stages of childhood, they learn that growing up involves developing greater independence and learning new things over time. The video supports them to recognise and celebrate their own growth and achievements.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS1 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
