How sleep helps our bodies and minds

This RSE & PSHE video helps the children understand why sleep is important for their bodies and minds. The pupils learn about the sleep cycle, including deep sleep and REM sleep, and how these stages help their bodies rest, grow and support memory and mood.

The video helps the pupils understand how not getting enough sleep can affect their concentration, emotions, learning and relationships. It encourages them to follow a healthy sleep routine and introduces simple ways to prepare for bed, such as keeping a regular bedtime and choosing calm activities before sleep. This supports the pupils in developing positive habits for their wellbeing.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE LKS2 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
