Is everything we see online real?

This RSE & PSHE video introduces pupils to the idea that not everything we see online is real. Through a fun and engaging story, children follow Priya as she uses a computer tool called K-Bot to change photographs of her cat.

The video shows how technology can edit pictures in creative ways. Pupils see Priya add a hat to her cat and even make it appear as though the cat is flying. Although the pictures look real, Priya understands that the changes were made by a computer and did not really happen.

As the story unfolds, children begin to explore how images online can sometimes be altered to look different from reality. The video helps pupils recognise that photographs and pictures can be changed using technology, even when the results seem believable.

By exploring these examples, pupils are encouraged to think carefully about what they see online and ask questions about whether something is real or has been changed using technology. The video helps children understand that images online do not always show things exactly as they are in real life.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE scheme of work, supporting pupils to explore how technology can change images and helping them think critically about what they see online.
