Exploring how different activities help our bodies

This RSE & PSHE video helps the children understand how different types of physical activity support the body in different ways. They learn about light, moderate and vigorous movement and explore how each type of activity affects the body. Through everyday examples such as stretching, walking, cycling, dancing and sports, they discover how movement helps muscles and joints, strengthens the heart and lungs and builds stamina and energy.

The video explains that different activities can make the body feel different, from gentle movement that warms the body to vigorous activity that increases breathing and heart rate. The children also learn that they should aim for about one hour of moderate to vigorous movement each day and that short bursts of activity throughout the day contribute to staying healthy. The video encourages them to find activities they enjoy and understand how movement supports both physical health and wellbeing.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE UKS2 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
