Understanding what helps us feel safe

This RSE & PSHE video helps the children think about the different people, places and moments that help them feel safe. Through simple examples, the children learn that feeling safe can come from many things, such as spending time with family, having a bedtime routine, playing with a pet or keeping a special object close.

The video helps the children understand that everyone’s safe feelings are different and that noticing what makes them feel calm and protected can help them better understand themselves. The children are encouraged to recognise who helps them feel safe and to think about ways they can support others to feel safe too. This supports the children in developing emotional awareness, empathy and a sense of security.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS1 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
