How feelings change and help us grow
This RSE & PSHE video uses a simple animated story to help children understand that strong feelings can change over time and that these feelings can help them learn and grow. The children follow the journey of a tiny seed that begins in the cold, dark soil, feeling scared, worried and annoyed. As the rain falls and the seed becomes more upset, the children see how overwhelming emotions can feel at first.
As the story continues, the children see how the seed’s feelings begin to change. Its frustration becomes determination as it slowly pushes through the soil towards the sunlight. The seed grows into a strong shoot and finally a flower, helping the children understand that difficult feelings do not last forever and that challenges can help them become stronger.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS1 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
