Creating art in French

This French video introduces teachers to delivering a cross-curricular art lesson almost entirely in French, using visual demonstrations, short instructions and praise to guide pupils. Drawing inspiration from a Matisse film clip, the activity builds on vocabulary already learned in the topic while allowing pupils to encounter new language naturally through creative work.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s French scheme – art. It encourages teachers, even non-specialists, to integrate French into practical lessons. Pupils create and title their own artworks in French before displaying them in a classroom gallery, giving opportunities to view and give feedback on each other’s pieces while reinforcing language in an engaging, visual context.
