Why staying hydrated keeps us healthy
This RSE & PSHE video helps the children understand why drinking water is important for keeping their bodies healthy. Through clear examples, the children learn that more than half of the human body is made of water and that regularly drinking water helps their bodies work properly.
The video introduces the idea of staying hydrated and explains how water helps the children think clearly, move their bodies easily, keep their tummies working well and maintain the right body temperature. The children also learn to recognise signs of dehydration, such as feeling tired, dizzy or grumpy, finding it harder to concentrate or having headaches or tummy aches. The video encourages the children to drink regularly throughout the day, especially when they are active or in warm weather, and explains that water and milk are healthy choices, while sugary drinks should be enjoyed only occasionally.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS1 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
