Using food labels to make healthy choices

This RSE & PSHE video helps the children understand what traffic light food labels are and how they can support healthy choices. They learn what the green, amber and red colours mean and how these labels give information about fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt in different foods.

The video helps the children understand why their bodies need only small amounts of certain nutrients and how food labels can help them compare products and make balanced choices. They also explore other useful information found on packaging, such as allergy advice and storage instructions. This supports them in developing healthy habits and understanding how to make informed choices about food.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE UKS2 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
