Understanding instructions and sequences

This Computing video introduces the pupils to algorithms, showing that they are sets of instructions that make digital technology work. It helps the children understand that computers can only follow clear commands and must be programmed carefully to complete tasks.

This video explains that if a command is missing, incorrect or placed in the wrong order, the algorithm will not work. The children see how important accuracy and careful thinking are when creating algorithms so that computers know exactly what to do.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing – Year 2 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to develop their digital skills, explore key computing concepts and create their own digital projects.
