Computers around us

This Computing video introduces pupils to the idea that computers come in many different shapes and sizes and can be found all around us. Children explore a range of computers, including those with and without screens, and begin to recognise that computers are used for many different purposes.

The video encourages pupils to think about where they have seen computers and what they might be used for. Through exploring examples from everyday life, children learn that computers can help people communicate, play games, find information and complete tasks.

Pupils discover that computers do not always look the same and that many devices we use every day contain computers. The video helps children recognise how computers support people at home, at school and in the wider world.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing videos, which help pupils develop their understanding of computer systems and digital technology. It encourages children to recognise how computers are used in everyday life and the different ways they can help us.
