Before the lesson
This alternative theme provides an idea to create a stuffed Easter egg based on our Year 5: Textiles: Stuffed toys unit.

Our stuffed Easter egg template uses a blanket stitch to secure the main pieces together before stuffing and using a running stitch to add appliqué letters and details.
You will need:
- Felt sheets (assorted colours)
- Scrap fabric materials (optional – but would provide alternatives to felt for appliqué)
- Scissors
- PVA glue
- Safety pins
- Childrens’ sewing needles and thread
- Buttons (or other decorative items)
- Stuffing material (e.g. cotton wool)
- Fabric pens
- Activity: Easter egg – Stuffed toy template – two copies per pupil
and - Activity: Easter egg – Stuffed letters template – two copies per pupil based on their choice of letter
