This alternative theme provides an idea to create a stuffed Easter egg based on the Design and technology, Year 5, Textiles, Stuffed toys unit.

The stuffed Easter egg template uses a blanket stitch to secure the main pieces together before stuffing and using a running stitch to add appliqué letters and details.

You will need:

 

  • Felt sheets (assorted colours)
  • Scrap fabric materials (optional – but would provide alternatives to felt for appliqué)
  • Scissors
  • PVA glue
  • Safety pins
  • Childrens’ sewing needles and thread
  • Buttons (or other decorative items)
  • Stuffing material (e.g. cotton wool)
  • Fabric pens
