Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing support:

  • Could identify and sort one category only (for example, ‘asking for help’) to focus on understanding one reason for prayer.
  • Could sort the Activity: Talking to God on their table using whiteboards with the headings to support organisation.
  • Could use the Resource: Reasons for praying to support decision-making when sorting the pictures.

Pupils working at greater depth:

  • Should explain similarities and differences between talking to people and talking to God by referring to examples from the lesson.
  • Should explain why people might choose to talk to God in different situations by linking to the sorting activity.
  • Should suggest that some people may choose to talk to God privately by considering different beliefs and preferences.
  • Could justify their sorting choices by explaining their reasoning.
