Adaptive teaching
Pupils who need support:
- Could rehearse the rules with an adult before the lesson using actions and choral rehearsal.
- Could be encouraged to respond using an action and one word (e.g. rule action and ‘safe’ or ‘stop’) instead of circling the rule they think fits best in the Activity: Rule detectives.
Pupils working at greater depth:
- Should be prompted to use cause and consequence in their explanations, e.g. ‘This rule keeps us safe because/if we don’t follow this rule, we could…’
- Could explain how two different rules might both help in one setting and compare them.
- Could think of an example of their own for a chosen rule.
