Talk through the recipes as you work on the practical tasks to support their understanding. One-to-one adult support may be advisable for some children.

Pupils working at greater depth: Should be encouraged to consider why procedures like tying up hair and wiping work surfaces are important. Could adapt the recipe as they work, perhaps by adding more fruit juice at the blending stage to thin the smoothie texture. Should be encouraged to reflect on food packaging they have seen to help them make design decisions.
