Providing a broad and balanced 2026 Music curriculum

This user-friendly document shows how following Kapow Primary’s 2026 Music scheme of work supports children’s personal development, including spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development and British values.

It explains the meaning and rationale of SMSC and maps Kapow Primary’s Music units to Ofsted’s SMSC descriptors. 

Furthermore, it shows which Music units support schools in promoting the core British values of Democracy, Rule of law, Individual liberty, Mutual respect and Tolerance.
