Building safe and responsible digital citizens
This RSE & PSHE video provides an overview of The online world key area for Lower key stage 2. It explains how the Year 3 and 4 units help the children develop a deeper understanding of online life, encouraging them to think critically about how online experiences can affect wellbeing, relationships and the choices they make. The video highlights key areas of learning, including online relationships, responsible and safe use, recognising risks and harms and reporting concerns.
The video explores how children learn to communicate respectfully online, understand the benefits and challenges of digital interactions and recognise that online communication can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. Teachers are guided through learning about online safety, including keeping personal information private, following age restrictions and seeking help when something feels uncomfortable or unsafe. The video also introduces learning about misleading online content, checking reliability and developing critical thinking skills. Practical guidance is included on using tools such as a wonder box, avoiding assumptions about children’s online experiences and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
