What is Yom Kippur?

This Religion and worldviews video introduces Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, exploring how Jewish people prepare for and observe this important time of reflection and forgiveness. Pupils learn about key practices such as fasting, prayer, giving charity and the blowing of the shofar, and how these express beliefs about repentance, renewal and making amends.

It builds your subject knowledge, helps address common misconceptions, and prepares you to support pupils in understanding Jewish beliefs about forgiveness and personal responsibility within the wider context of worldviews.
