What shapes who we are

This RSE & PSHE video helps children explore what identity means and what can shape who we are. Through personal examples, children learn that our identities can be influenced by the people we meet, the places we go and the experiences we have.

The video shares how faith, culture, family and disability can be part of someone’s identity. Children hear examples such as being Sikh and visiting the Gurdwara, having family roots in Jamaica and Italy, using hearing aids, and being part of a family with two mums. The video highlights that everyone’s identity is unique and that differences should be respected and included.

Children are encouraged to reflect on what shapes their own identity and to recognise that families and backgrounds can look different, and are all special.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE resources, supporting children to understand themselves and others, value diversity and build respectful relationships.
