Website hacking with HTML editing

This Computing scheme of work video shows pupils how to explore and temporarily edit the HTML code of a live web page. It provides a hands-on way for the children to understand how websites are built and how simple changes to HTML affect what appears on screen.

The video guides the children to choose a web page, use the ‘Inspect’ tool and make edits to headings, text and other elements. These changes appear instantly but only affect their own computer. The children learn that refreshing the page resets all changes and are reminded to use this skill responsibly, practising safely, being honest and never using edits to mislead.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Year 4 Skills showcase: HTML unit. It encourages curiosity and responsible digital behaviour while giving pupils a practical understanding of how websites are structured using HTML.
