The dome of the rock

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Religion and worldviews scheme of work. It follows a traveller visiting the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem and sharing their experience of this sacred Islamic site, including how it felt to view the building and learn more about its religious meaning.

The Dome of the Rock is an important place for many Muslim people. It is believed to be the site where the Prophet Muhammad was taken on a special journey to heaven, known as the Night Journey. Although only Muslims are allowed to enter the building, many people visit the site to admire its beauty and learn about its history. This video shows how people of all backgrounds can appreciate the deep meaning places like this hold, even if they don’t share the same beliefs.
