How the internet and World Wide Web developed

This Computing video introduces the children to the evolution of the internet, exploring how computers developed from working independently to becoming part of the global network used today. The children discover key developments including early local networks, ARPANET, the growth of the internet, the invention of the World Wide Web and the increasing use of wi-fi.

The video explains how local networks became connected around the world and helps the children distinguish between the internet and the World Wide Web. By exploring how these technologies have developed over time, the children discover how connected networks have changed the ways people communicate, collaborate and share information.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing videos, which help pupils develop their understanding of computer systems and digital technology. It encourages children to recognise how computers are used in everyday life and the different ways they can help us.
