Showing the components of a battery-powered torch by taking it apart

In this Design and technology video, the pupils are shown the process of taking apart a battery-powered torch and invited to spot the familiar electrical components.

The video shows what is inside a simple electrical product: a torch. The video shows that the housing can be unscrewed and the bulb removed, then the batteries can be taken out and the inside has metal connectors that act as the wires. The pupils are invited to compare the components used in this product to those they use in school to make circuits.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
