When is an injury serious?
This RSE & PSHE video helps the pupils understand the difference between small injuries and more serious ones, and why it is important to tell a trusted adult if someone is hurt. The children learn that while cuts, grazes and bruises are common, adults are there to help make sure injuries are looked after properly.
The video explores situations in which an injury may require extra attention. It also highlights injuries that need immediate help, including burns from hot objects and bumps to the head. The pupils learn that head injuries can sometimes cause problems later, such as dizziness, headaches or feeling sick, which is why they should always tell an adult straight away if they bump their head. It encourages the children to understand that adults are there to keep them safe and that they will never get in trouble for speaking up when someone is injured.
This video is one of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS1 videos, which help teachers and pupils explore health, safety and wellbeing.
