Making helmet shell structures using papier-mâché

This Design and technology video shows the pupils how to make papier-mâché helmets. The video models key techniques, such as smoothing out lumps, cross-layering strips to strengthen the structure and building up two or more layers for durability. It also encourages the children to make independent choices about how many layers to add, supporting both creativity and problem-solving as they construct their shell structures.

This video is part of the Year 4, Structures: Helmets unit. It provides clear, step-by-step guidance, helping the pupils feel confident and capable as they begin the practical process of building their helmets.
