Growing and changing during puberty
This RSE & PSHE video helps the children understand how their bodies may grow and change during puberty. The video explains that puberty is a natural part of growing up that affects both the body and emotions, and reassures them that everyone experiences development at their own pace.
The children learn about some of the physical developments that happen during puberty, including growing taller and stronger, developing body hair, changes to the skin and increased sweating. It also explores the importance of personal hygiene and introduces some of the developments that are more common in boys, such as a deeper voice and broader shoulders, and some that are more common in girls, such as breast development and wider hips. Throughout, the children are reminded that puberty is a normal part of growing up and are encouraged to talk to trusted adults if they have questions or concerns.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS2 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
