Assembling the automata toy

This Design and technology scheme of work video shows the children how complete their automaton toys by adding a housing to conceal the internal mechanism. It shows the key processes of measuring and cutting accurately, attaching the housing securely while allowing access for adjustments and design characters to connect to the follower mechanisms. It also shows techniques such as using mirrored drawings for rotating designs and adding a handle to improve usability.

The video illustrates the construction and design steps so the children feel confident and well prepared to  finish their automaton projects successfully in the lesson and unit below.
