Before the lesson

This alternative theme provides an outcome that would be ideal for Easter. Refer to our Year 2: Mechanisms: Making a moving monster unit for videos on linkages and assembly that will provide all the skills you need to make a chick, bunny or another animal.

See Year 2: Mechanisms: Making a moving monster: Lesson 3 or Lesson 4 for our Teacher video: Construction and evaluation and Pupil video: Construction.

The linkages in the mechanical animal are made in the same way as the moving monster, using paper fasteners and strips of card. The only difference with the mechanical animal is that we have turned the linkages portrait instead of horizontal.
