Lesson plan

Recap and recall

Explain that the children will work with a partner to recall facts about Bee-Bots. Display the Presentation: Fact tennis and arrange the children in pairs. Explain that they will take turns sharing one fact at a time and continue until they hear, “Stop!” Allow the activity to run for about one minute.

Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing support

Should use the Knowledge organiser to remind them of what each Bee-Bot command does; could be directed to letters that are closer to the starting position or require simpler movements (e.g. c, d, e, h, i, k, l or m).

Pupils working at greater depth

Should create a set of instructions that programs the Bee-Bot to spell out a three-letter word, pausing on each letter; could explain how they planned their route and how they fixed any mistakes when testing their algorithm.
